The ‘Urinating Dog’ joins the ‘Fearless Girl’ !
June 5, 2017
City sculptor Alex Gardega placed a statue of a small dog that he created, titled ‘Pissing Pug’, on the left side of the statue ‘Fearless Girl’ at the Wall Street. However, it has now been removed.
The ‘pissing pug’ came as Gardega’s retaliation against the installation of the ‘fearless girl’. Gardega believes that the ‘Fearless Girl’, considered a symbol of feminism, has got nothing to do with feminism but is a publicity stunt. He thinks the statue is a disrespect towards the artist Arturo Di Modica who created the famed ‘Charging Bull’.
The ‘Fearless Girl’
On the eve of International Women’s Day in March 2017, Wall Street’s iconic ‘Charging Bull’ statue was joined by a defiant little girl. She faces down the much larger bull, hands on hips, and was commissioned to highlight gender inequality. The statue titled ‘Fearless Girl’ was installed by the Boston- based asset manager State Street Global Advisors. Kristen Visbal is its creator.
