THE GRAND GESTURE
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an award of ₹ 50 lakh for the Indian women’s cricket team, which finished as runners-up in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the reward will be given to the team at a grand ceremony in Bhopal following their return.
The Indian women’s team lost by nine runs to England in a tense summit clash of the World Cup last night, finishing runners-up for the second time – the previous being the 2005 edition. Chasing a target of 229, the Mithali Raj-led side failed to cross the line.
